Becoming an educator was a dream Cynthia recognized very early in life. The road to accomplishing this goal was filled with twists and turns, but success eventually came. From teaching second and third grades in an elementary school, she moved to teaching those same skills to incarcerated adult males. After almost two years in that position, new behavioral courses (geared toward helping students understand who they were and why they acted as they did) were introduced and she made the transition from academics to discovering methods that would promote a desire for success within a confined environment.
While assisting students to achieve, other aspirations became apparent. Pursuing a graduate degree seemed the most logical next step. She obtained a Master's Degree in Electronic Education from the University of Phoenix in 2003. This specific degree choice was motivated by the desire to help teachers become more adept with the use of technology in their classrooms. Instead, teaching Microsoft Office and Microcomputer Applications for a community college (going into a prison setting to provide higher educational opportunities) became the next effort. After nearly four years in that position, she accepted a Lecturer position in the Computer Science Department at Sam Houston State University, starting the Fall semester of 2007.
